(KCTV) - The Butler City Administrator has been charged with sexual abuse after what he described as a drunken groping incident. Bates County, Missouri, Circuit Court records filed on Wednesday, Aug. 13, indicate that Corey N. Snead, 48, of Butler, has been charged with misdemeanor sexual abuse. Information written and composed by KCTV 5 News in Kansas City, MOA probable cause statement filed by the Missouri State Highway Patrol revealed that in April, the Butler Police Department requested State Troopers investigate an incident that happened at The Alley Tavern. Specifically, MSHP said it was requested to investigate the incident due to a “conflicting working relationship with the victim and suspect.” The victim told investigators that she had been playing a quarter machine at the tavern around 6:10 p.m. on April 18. Snead approached her from behind and allegedly began to “grind” on her. State Troopers said they found that the victim had asked Snead to stop before he proceeded to grope her multiple times. Security footage and witness statements corroborated what the victim had told them. As a result, a single count of sexual abuse in the second degree was filed against Snead. If convicted, he could be sentenced to up to 1 year in prison. As of Wednesday afternoon, a court appearance has not yet been set, as Judge Julie A. Highley-Keutzer recused herself, “given the friendship between the Court and the Defendant, as well as the complaining witness.” KCTV5 reached out to the City of Butler for comment; however, city leaders said they cannot comment on the pending litigation. As of Wednesday, Aug. 13, staff at City Hall told KCTV5 over the phone that Snead was still employed as City Administrator. However, his city email address is no longer active. No further information has been released.
